Like him or hate him, Lalit Modi's place is guaranteed in the annals of Indian cricket. Lalit Modi took the rather uppity gentleman's game and added the right tadka. The experiment changed the face of the game forever. With dollops of glamour, flamboyant stars and skimpily-clad cheerleaders, suddenly everyone was cheering for the Indian Premier League. Many tried to hold him back, criticised him, treated him with disdain, but Lalit Modi continued to charge on. He even took the IPL to South Africa and made it a success. With supporters and detractors in equal measure, Lalit Modi can never be too far from the headlines.
